Another day… another bale of hay.

Write it down in the record books folks, it’s official.

Today was my first official day as a 28 year old, and not surprisingly, it still sucked.

As a child, I can still vividly remember the utmost importance of a birthday. An upcoming birthday meant that you couldn’t sleep for the entire week leading up to the day; the suspense and anticipation were overwhelming.

What presents were you getting? Who was coming to your party? Would it be a large cake?

After all, a birthday was one of only two times in the entire year where you received free $hit from the relatively unknown, or as some might say, the unknown relative. And after the day had passed, the build-up for the next one had already begun.

Fast-forward 20-somewhat years to the present, and instead of finding that young, exuberant child, you’ll find an adult that despises birthdays. An adult exposed to a birthday’s real verities – the pessimistic, underlying fact that you’re now officially one year closer to death.

And with that, Happy Birthday to all! :)
