Social… geekness?
So today, I received an email from one of my friends…
Ryan,
Why are you hitting my myspace page like 25 times a day? Quit stalking me you *bleep*. Just joking, how you been, and happy birthday.
<name of the innocent protected>
So apparently, one of my friends was tracking the number of times I went to his myspace page.
And it’s not like what it sounds. (I think).
For the past few months, I’ve been secretly working on a social networking spider. You’re probably asking yourself why? Yes, I know it’s geeky, but over the past year, I’ve been rewriting aka refactoring a Java graph application I co-wrote as a junior in college for the NSF-funded IKNOW project. And as any programmer will tell you, to test out a graph application, you need graph data.
And that’s where my spider comes a crawling.
So, if you’re connected to me via someone in my network, then I’m sure I’ve probably crawled your data, and thus, registered a hit on your page. Rest assured (for the most part), unless I know you, I really don’t give a damn who you are or what you’re doing. And even if I do know you, I really don’t care that much.
