The Perfect Child…
The Perfect Child
I’ve always been compared – to someone ‘better than me’,
But I’m just as good or better, I wish that you could see.
All my faults are magnified, my errors you point out,
Inside of me I’m perfect though – your eyes judge me like a lout.
Sometimes… I’m not the perfect child, sorry, I’m learning so…
One day I will be that kid, but for now just watch me grow.
Don’t pick at my mistakes, as though they were a crime,
Even you weren’t that perfect child, we all must learn sometime.
So love me for who I am, don’t badger me and chide,
Because even I have feelings too, yes, even I have a bit of pride.
If there’s a lesson to learn here, I’m not sure, but I’ll tell you this,
If I’m not the perfect child in your eyes, I know that I am in His.
